Our Services

Do you have smells of rotten eggs and are you constantly having to replace appliances and electronics in your home?      If so you may have one of the estimated 100,000 homes in the US that contain a gypsum wallboard (Drywall) made in China that is defective and is releasing toxic corrosive gases, that may be potentially damaging to your health, into the air inside your home.  We have built several Custom Homes in Heron Bay (Also See our Project Portfolio),  Parkland,  Port St. Lucie,  Hollywood,   Boca Raton,  and  throughout the State of Florida, and are extremely well versed in the issues caused by the Drywall.    We offer FREE INSPECTIONS of your home to see if it contains Chinese Drywall and inspect for damages that have may already have occurred and provide you with a proposal for the complete restoration of your home so you can start to enjoy your investment and get your life back to how it should be.  Call us at 954-444-7732 or email ryanj@tqcs.com to schedule an appointment.  DUE TO THE MASSIVE RECENT LEGAL BATTLES THAT ARE BEING RAISED OVER THE DRYWALL WE HAVE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED ALL ABATEMENT AND REMOVAL OPERATIONS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR CUSTOMERS.  Until there is a clean resolution on not just what the impacts of the drywall are on health and property there can and what gases are being emitted we will have no idea what other systems or elements of the home are or have been affected and will have to be replaced or removed in conjunction with the drywall abatement.   We recommend that you protect your life and property first but then if possible try and hold out until their is an official remediation method and plan released otherwise you may end up having to do the work twice if they find  a specific chemical may need to be sprayed on the block walls after removing the drywall to prevent further issues and determine exactly what parts of the Mechanical and electrical systems need to be replaced or repaired and issue methods of such.  In the mean time please scroll down the page for our short term solution. until a long term plan has been developed.  Very few companies have actually performed a whole house restoration and upon award of the job do not know where to start so customers need to beware.  As previously being affiliated with a large homebuilder for many years we have been involved with this issue since it first was discovered years ago.  This experience has allowed us to nearly perfect the process and most importantly painless on the homeowner.

Potential Hazards and Remedies

Health concerns reported related to the toxic gases include an array of respiratory problems, nosebleeds, irritated eyes, and headaches.  Of very serious concern is the possibility that the Chinese Drywall is emitting excessive amounts of hydrogen sulfide fumes, which can cause extreme irritation, unconsciousness, and even death.  Toxicologists and industrial hygienists have identified at least four different types of sulfur compound emissions in testing Chinese gypsum: carbon disulfide, carbonyl sulfide, hydrogen sulfide, and strontium sulfate (trace levels), all at varying minute exposure levels."  Anyone of the these gases especially if exposure occurs the  conditions of high humidity and heat, could trigger irritating symptoms of burning eyes and scratching skin. and are heavier that air and can then be evacuated from the premises.  Strontium Sulfate if the must obtrusive of them all creating not only the odor but also it id the gas that s causing al of the property damage due to its corrosive effects. NONE of the four sulfur compound emissions EXCEEDED any established regulatory health guidelines, including the Minimal Risk Level ("MRL"), as determined by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry ("ATSDR"), a The Florida Department of Health has confirmed that some Chinese drywall gives off a material called Strontium Sulfide, a chemical compound that can smell like rotten eggs.  Testing also revealed that Strontium Sulfide is a corrosive agent and has caused Appliances, A/C's, whole house electrical systems, TV's, Computers and anything containing copper or aluminum parts, including circuit boards,  to corrode rapidly causing it to cease operation in a year or two.  So far test on the two main gases show they did not pose a known risk to human health, however, there are many other gases being given off as well that are still being studied.  Sulfur gas is heavier than air, so it settles near the floor where children and pets are so pay close attention to signs of any symptoms in them and try and keep electronics elevated.

One of the most important and effective short term things that can be done is VENTILATE.

Homes in Florida  are built extremely tight these days and allow for little to no fresh air infiltration and 99% of all residential AC systems have no fresh air intakes.  The only built in ventilation in newer homes are the exhaust fans in bathrooms being located near the ceilings they do not help to evacuate the gas well if it is settling on the floor.  THe main source of fresh air input into your home is actually when you come in and out the doors or leave the windows open.  This however can lead to speeding up the corrosive effects of the gases and needs to be done with extreme caution to maintain humidity and temperature levels.  Though our research and interviews with some of the worlds largest testing facilities, including Environ hired by Lennar Homes to perform independent testing for them on their homes and the drywall and even the project leader Dr. Phillip Goad, who with the Arkansas-based Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health performed several tests for Knauf drywall in South Florida none of which produced any results that would indicate any levels of sulphur compounds that could be damaging to your health.  THe EPA and department of health have both also yet to come out with any concrete statement as to the potential health impact.  One thing they agree on is that there are re no long term studies of the effects of the gases even at low levels on people, children, pets (Also ways low to the ground) and that no you can be absolutely sure it OK and they are all afraid to step up and say anything definitive.  It is being said due to the rapid deterioration and extremely short half life of the gases they are very difficult to take samples of and get back to the lab to prefer the testing required to see what impact they may have on people.  That is why until we know what needs to be done in order to remediate the project properly and whether all wires, carpeting, furniture ect. needs to be disposed of the best this we can do is keep the air clean.  Our system is not for sale yet to the general public since there is far too much litigation and we are still learning more and more everyday.  We are installing systems in homes that fit the profile for the system to be cost efficient and still effective.  We currently manufacture large sized Ozone Generators and industrial air scrubbing systems used in chemical plants and mining operations and have the capability to turn out approximately 150-300 systems a week.   We are hoping to make our first retail sale by the end of the third quarter 2009 and will have an edge that we guarantee no other system will be able to provide.

The Gas comes out extremely slow in some boards and seams like it pours out of others and the rate varies by the time of day, temperature, and humidity.  We have found homes that the smell was almost unbearable only to find that the entire house except for one sheet that was used for patching contained American Made Drywall that upon subjecting to many tests did not produce an odor .   The exact amount of emission is a critical factor in calculating the response and the amount of neutralizer and fresh air that are used in getting the system to work optimally.   We have hunted down and sought out  to the worlds best environmental research firms or answers.  After calling a few I decided to call the ones that had the worlds most affected clients.  Even when calling the firms retained by the two most likely largest affected companies in the world I was met with a genuine concern to resolve the issue and not real fear there was anything to worry about short of the corrosion.

What Makes Us Ahead of the Rest

From years of being a large homebuilder in Florida We have used and partnered with most of the subcontractors from almost every trade that performed the work in many of the homes in question during the original construction.  We utilize these relationships to help us obtain as-built drawings and have coordination meetings prior to commencement of any work so we can better understand how and where things were installed in order to minimize the impact of the restoration on existing elements of the home.  If required we use these subcontractors to make any required repairs since their knowledge of the homes makes them efficient and we avoid any possibly voiding any warranties.  This strategy can potentially save thousands of dollars and weeks of down time for our clients.

Time is of the Essence

Presently the EPA is doing studies on the drywall to see if it is safe to dispose of normally.  This was confirmed by Congressman Wexler's Aid at the meeting on May, 4th and now that it has all be turned over to the EPA to review hopefully If it is found to pose a threat it will have to be disposed it should be OK of in a way similar to asbestos requiring extreme measures to be taken during the abatement process and causing the restoration costs to sky rocket. The second is that are four sulfur based gases that are being emitted from the DW, they become stronger and corrosive any significant increase in heat or humidity.  Summer is a Hurricane season is a month away.  Heat humidity are already creeping in and we are predicated to have a very hot and moist summer.  The larger issue is  that the gases being released have an extremely corrosive effect, also amplifies by heat and humidity, on copper and aluminum and are eating away at every electronic device and even the main electrical, plumbing, and A/C systems of your home.  The effect is substantial causing Appliances to have to be replaced yearly in some cases.  The longer you wait the more damage is being done and the more the repairs will cost.  We provide the only known remedy at this time which is to completely remove the existing drywall from the home and replace it with good old "MADE IN THE USA" products.  Being a turnkey Contractor we handle everything from permitting to final painting.

SHORT TERM SOLUTIONS

Low Volume Gas Scubbing and Gas Evacuation System

With so many vacant new homes without the AC being run and the heat and humidity and therefore corrosion in overdrive we new something needed to be done faster than the governments non-existence plan.   We created a proprietary interlaced low volume (to conserve AC) exhaust system that can be utilized to evacuate the gases and provide and exhaust the exact amount of fresh air into the home without increasing the humidity that when utilized in combination with our Gas Stop Scrubbing Unit neutralizes nearly all the gaseous emissions as before they have time to chemically transform or accumulate.  In all of our current test homes and buildings we have reduced the levels of the gas to levels lower than those that are naturally occurring outside the home in the fresh air.  Though the use of our patent pending Gas Stop unit that is installed inline  with the main air return to each air handler in the home and some minor changes to the ductwork to ensure adequate low level at the floor evacuation we can stop the gas dead in its tracks.  The system also focuses on maintaining the humidity below 60% at which the  hydrogen sulfide, which is the primary smelly gas being emitted can not convert itself chemically into the compound strontium sulfate which is the chemical responsible for the corrosion and the potentially most dangerous to you health of those discovered so far.  Until there is a remediation plan outlining the procedure for the safe removal of the drywall something needs to be done to limit further possible health and property damage and our system is just that and comes at a low cost.  The other risk as the wiring deteriorates the home will become more and more unsafe and will eventually be deemed a fire hazard and unsuitable for habitation and your belongings, electronics, appliances, etc will all be destroyed.   Please contact us for an appointment for us to inspect you home and explain this system, the scams out there, the risks, and the most likely outcome of the entire situation.
